When you buy a timeshare property, you are basically purchasing the right to use that property for a certain amount of time each year. By sharing the cost of the property with the other timeshare owners, you can generally afford a nicer and larger property than if you had to pay the entire cost yourself. Additionally, with a timeshare, you do not have to worry about maintenance or upkeep, as those are taken care of by a management company.
There are 2 basic types of timeshares: Fee simple and right-to-use. A fee simple timeshare gives you a portion of ownership of the property, while a right-to-use timeshare gives you the right to use the property, but no actual ownership interest. As might be expected, right-to-use timeshares are usually less expensive than fee simple timeshares.
